Never saw a book with the title on the back like that.
I don’t know why, but this title/subject-on-back-cover trend happens a lot in comics.
One word; ANIME. (Japanese comic books and writing are back-to-front, right-to-left; corn-fusing for us Gaijin to read, even with English translations! Don’t get me started on Engrish…)
Manga “front” covers are indeed on what we’d regard as the “backs” of the books. But, of course, this art is from 1957—long before the first Sailor Moon (& company) characters showed up in America.
So artists Cappello and Giordano were bold visionaries—ahead of their time!
