There’s no vintage art this time. Instead of basing this on old comic book art, Diego drew this for me from scratch. This was done a few years ago when Jack Enyart and I were pitching Bucky as an animation project.
Alas, unlike Bucky, TV producers weren’t “prepared for anything” and the series never got picked up.
Still, I like the character. So I’ll keep doing Bucky gags as the mood hits me and inspiration strikes.
Transcript:
SCENE: Bucky, dressed as a Boy Scout, is standing, holding an American flag in his left hand and saluting with his right hand.
BUCKY: As a scout, I’m prepared for anything…except broccoli…and girls!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Few pieces of Last Kiss art have been used as much—and have evolved as much—as the art in today’s comic. Many thanks to my pal Mike Pascale for continuing to find new ways to tweak and transform this vintage panel.

Art by Vince Colletta Studio from the story “Hope Never Dies” in FIRST KISS #29, 1962.
Transcript:
SCENE: Two flying cupids (with bows and arrows) talk in the foreground while in the background a man and a woman kiss. Both the man and the woman have arrows sticking out of their backs,
CUPID #1: You made a Democrat and a Republican fall in love? Amazing!
CUPID #2: And for my next trick…I’m gonna change my own diaper!

This comic that mischievous Mike Pascale and I created back in 2014 is one of my favorite Valentine’s Day gags. But tomorrow we’ll have a brand new cupid comic that’s twice as outrageous!

Art by Vince Colletta Studio from the story “Condemned” in FIRST KISS #40, 1965.
