Mike Pascale (the genius behind most of the Last Kiss zombie comics) learns that I’m raising his rate a full penny per gag.
In the near future, I’ll be posting a gazillion photos of costumed nerds and fun stuff from Comic-Con International 2014. But here are a few personal moments taken at the Last Kiss booth or featuring friends.

Before the convention, model Mimi Cortez showed me how the new Last Kiss T-shirts look when properly worn. You’ll be seeing a lot more of Mimi and the shirts in a few weeks when we launch the Last Kiss sales site.
Attending the world’s most famous pop culture event can be a lot of fun. But I usually see very little of it because I mostly stay in the booth and greet fans. There was one panel, however, that I had to attend: “Where Is the Love? The Strange Disappearance of Romance Comics” which featured panelists Colleen Coover (left), Michelle Nolan (right) and moderator Douglas Wolk (not pictured.) To my surprise, Last Kiss was mentioned (and recommended) several times during the panel.
For me, one of the best parts of Comic-Con is always meeting with fans. Robin Riley drops by the booth nearly every year.
Damian A. Wassel, Sr. (president of the new publishing house “creative mind energy” came by the booth for the first time. We ended up talking long and hard about publishing, life and a lot more.
During one of my few trips out of the booth, I visited my pal Georgia Ball at her Artist Alley table where she was selling various kids comics she’d written. (By the end of the show she’d sold everything!)
I was very happy for my friend Michael T. Gilbert (creator of Mr. Monster) who was awarded an Inkpot award this year.
After the show on Sunday night, I celebrated with a couple of friends from my Comics Buyer’s Guide days—John Jackson Miller (left) and Jim Johnson. After surviving a stint being my editor at CBG, John became a New York Times best selling author for his Star Wars novels. Jim is a reviewer/journalist for Comic Book Resources.
