This guy is either very twisted–or very naive. I’m not sure which. The original version of the gag started out with just the woman speaking. And that’s how it’ll appear (soon I hope) when GoComics offers it as one of several Last Kiss cellphone wallpapers. Since cell screens are so small, I limited myself to six words or less for all gags.
But when I decided to recycle the comic for the web, I had more room for text. Hence the extra gag–and the new twist.

WOMAN: One of us is pregnant!
MAN: I hope it's me!
MAN: I hope it's me!
I can’t help thinking of awful, awful fanfiction called with “mpreg” in the plot. Yes, it’s just as terrible a plot device as it sounds.
Good gosh. I hope it was played for laughs. Come to think of it, I think there was an Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy with that plot years ago. But it’s kind of a one-joke concept. Actually, I think the guy in my comic is just very, very confused. Maybe the woman too.
Sadly, those fanfics are not always jokes. It’s a plot device in a lot of fanfics involving gay men (or at least characters that the authors wished were gay). Since neither partner have children, mpreg is used as a plot device. It’s very strange.
The people in your comics are often very confused, John. It’s one of the things that make Last Kiss so great.
I was on the phone on a work call when I opened my email and read this just now, and had to stifle a laugh so hard I think I pulled something somewhere. I hope it wasn’t anything important.
Glad you liked it, Yiftach. I hope it wasn’t anything important too. To recover, just take two bad puns and call me in the morning.
Momma always told me it takes two to tango…..
Your momma was right, Lil, but who knows what’s possible these days? Personally, I prefer the old-fashioned, method involving two people–at least!
One of Billy Crystal’s first movies was “The Rabbit Test”. Aside from the plot about the first man to get pregnant, and an interesting cast, there’s not much reason to watch it.
