Comic Book Plus suggests that the pencils for this art may have been done by Al Feldstein. With the inks possibly by John Forte. I’m skeptical. But…who knows?

Why is he clutching the left lapel of his coat? And what does the gang sign he’s flashing with his other hand mean? And, perhaps most importantly of all, why is there a woman’ head growing out of his right shoulder?
I read the original to try to get some answers. But when I got to the underwear scene, I suddenly stopped caring about any of my previous concerns. So points to the author for that.
I noticed that as a pattern in all the stories in that magazine. Like in ‘Crusoe Island’ you keep wondering why no one is treating that woman’s out-of-control jaundice. But then they throw a guy on spikes and there’s allusions to a threesome, so all good.
Or ‘Werewolf Hunter’, a strip about hunting werewolves but without a werewolf in sight. There’s some old guy who shrinks and something about what really happened to Natalie Wood that day on the boat, but no werewolf. However, a guy in a bow tie gets punched, so still oddly satisfying.
It appears the morale here is that story isn’t necessary when you have lots of sexy violence. Then again, I guess we already knew that. So absolutely nothing was learned and I got to see a picture of a woman in her skivvies. All in all a good day. Thanks John!

Jams! I was going to write a funny quip but you got me laughing so hard I not only forgot what I was going to say, I also simultaneously just about wet myself and lost the abilitie 2 tipeeefsvnlkz…
I haven’t gone back to read the entire story, but just hearing Jam’s comment on the underwear scene was so funny that as soon as I can breathe again I’m going to go have to look it up. The way you put it, I can see the that scene going eight different directions, seven of which are bad and all of which would be illegal in some of our more conservative states.
He’s a slyboots. He’s setting her up for success since his skiing days have slid past. And, if these are the guys who smuggle diamonds in snowshoes, she’ll have an easy time of it.
