That comic would have printed the Summer just before the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7th of that same year.
Looking very tough and manly, while playing the transverse flute. Quite a feat!
Personally, I would have preferred the fife guy play the bagpipes… but then, that’s just me.
One side note– the inflation rate is such that ten cents in 1941 would be $1.83 in 2021 dollars. Comics were not really cheap.
