This is one of several gags that I’ve done for the anthology “Anything That Loves.”
The book has some incredibly talented creators (Ellen Forney, Erika Moen, Kevin Boze, Roberta Gregory, Roberta Gregory, Stasia Kato, and more) in the lineup.
And the topic? Well, to quote from the Kickstarter campaign: A bold new comics anthology that explores and celebrates the complex world beyond the categories of “gay” and “straight”.
I normally don’t talk about my sexuality, but here goes. (Prepare to be shocked.)
I’m straight.
Yeah, I know what you were thinking. But that’s sort of the point. Most of the time we make assumptions about people’s sexual orientation, but we don’t really know.
Some people don’t fit into our assumptions. And that’s one of things this book explores.
MAN: Heads you’re straight! Tails you’re gay!
WOMAN: But... it keeps landing on its side!

I understand. I’m “straight” too but I think that just complicates things too much. In another webcomic I learned that the correct answer for me is “I’m me” so I embrace the hell out of that now.
Jkwez, you’re right—of course. “I’m me” is a great answer.
Over the years, I’ve done quite a few gay-themed gags and I don’t normally feel any need to explain who I am. But, this time, I thought it might actually be helpful to say something.
This is an important book. I really think that organizer/editor Zan is onto something insightful here. Watch the Kickstarter video: http://kck.st/YuMhUF
I don’t want people to think the book is just for LGBT readers. If explaining that I’m straight and I’m a contributor helps get that point across (even a little) then—great!
