Text in Original Art:
TITLE: I was a Shrew!
MAN: It’s about time somebody took you in hand, you little tyrant!
WOMAN: OWWW! Stop it, you redheaded maniac!
CAPTION BOX: I have always been a fiery tempered redhead! I discovered long ago that the best way for me to get everything I wanted was to fly into tantrums. People knew that if they gave in to me, I’d eventually shut up, and they’d have peace. Only one person had the courage to attempt to subdue me. He too had flaming hair and a volcanic personality…
Blonde Guy “He is doing it wrong. Keep hitting her like that and he won’t be able to beat off for a week. “
Grocer “Yes, he needs to cup his hand more.”
Ah public spankings. Takes me back. Mentally that is. I’m no longer allowed entry into the township where the events occurred.

She was a SHREW! A Smoking Hot Redhead Eternally Whining!
SHREW On Sister Lady! SHREW On!

This spanking brought to you by Bonomo Turkish Taffy! Smack it! Crack it! Both our taffy and her…well. You have eyes. You can see where this is going.

What’s creepier? The fact he’s assaulting her in public? The fact the original story was published in “Popular Teenagers”? Or the fact the grocer and Blondie are less likely talking about his backhand and more likely talkin about her upskirt?

Wait! Fifty Cent hair cuts?!? What in the name of great tasting Bonomo Turkish Taffy is going on here?!?

I have to admit. This is one of the more “bold” romance comics I’ve seen here. Do you happen to know if this was pre-Code John?
Thanks.
Yes, it’s definitely pre-code. The Comics Code was created at the end of 1954 and didn’t really go into affect until early 1955. So everything before 1955 is pre-code and generally more interesting!
By the way, Jams, I loved the Bonomo taffy references!
What qualified a woman as a “shrew” in 1952? Reading a book? Thinking for herself?
‘Don’t Stop! DON’T STOP! MAKE GINGER POP!!!!’
